Redfern is one of the more upmarket suburbs of Sydney, Australia. It is the home of one of Sydney’s best-known markets, Paddy’s Market, named after Patrick “Paddy” Dignam. The market has many stalls selling fresh produce and souvenirs. It is open daily, except for Christmas Day.
Redfern Restaurants In Sydney, it is a normal neighborhood that consists mainly of students and young people busy with work or school. Featuring proximity to Central Station and Redfern station makes commuting there using public transportation easy while keeping in mind that Redfern trains are usually very crowded during peak hours. Residents are friendly toward foreigners, making the neighborhood even more interesting because different cultures come together to create quite an amazing atmosphere!
Here’s a list of Best Redfern Restaurants In Sydney
The Potting Shed
This is a great place to stop by on your way from or to Central. You will find it in Ultimo and if you do not know where Redfern is, just follow the crowd, and you’ll be there! It has a rustic feel with wooden chairs and wooden tables, accompanied by an amazing view of Sydney’s skyline — all of which is right outside the restaurant. The food is delicious and affordable for such a nice dinner out at around $50/person, including drinks (wine). It has good seafood as well as various meat dishes.
A great place to get some delicious Thai food. The restaurant is located on the corner of Chalmers and Regent Streets, about a 5-minute walk from Redfern Station, making it very convenient to catch a train back after dinner. It has a nice interior, but you can also sit outside when the weather allows for it. Authentic, tasty Thai food at a very reasonable price!! My favorite dish is Green Curry with Duck ($20) — yum! You can also find Spicy Lotus in Kingsford and Cabramatta, so keep an eye out for them when planning your next lunch or dinner.
Famous for its Bao burgers and handmade fried chicken, this restaurant/takeaway is a must-visit. You can find it at 5 Erskineville Rd, only 10 minutes from Redfern Station. The place is very cozy and decorated with lots of wood, giving you that “home-cooked meal” feel. Prices are reasonable as well — burgers start from around $10, which makes it quite affordable if you’re looking to grab something quick before heading out for the night!
Seven Seeds Cafe
This one should be at the top of your list if you love coffee because Seven Seeds specializes in delicious coffee creations! It’s located right next to Paddy’s Markets (no surprise there) on the corner of Chalmers St and Redfern St. A great place to spend some time on a weekend, drinking some coffee and reading a book, or checking your emails on their free wifi.
