A Community Development Project: One of the best ways to give back to your old neighborhood where you grew up in and might have fallen onto bad times is to start a Community Development Project and get the community involved to the point where they can start running it themselves in the end.

This ” handing over to community ” part of the project will not only give them what they need as per the project type ( an example would be a community garden gives them fresh fruits and vegetables ) but will also give them a sense of pride.

Some of the projects that can be accomplished especially with the help of the community especially to develop what is left of their community and their pride in it is:

• 1 – COMMUNITY GARDENS:

Here the projects will not only supply the community with fresh and healthy fruits and vegetables for daily meals but will give them a sense of pride which might have been lost when they ended up in the situation they find themselves in before that project started, as they can now work these gardens and know at the end of the day they are in their own way providing for the family

This can even be taken a step further if the community is a farming community then the owner of the farm can donate a piece of land for the community can use for growing food or even raise livestock for their own use, and this all in exchange of even a job working on the full farm for a salary.

• 2 – NEIGHBORHOOD WATCHES:

Just having one of these active & successful neighborhood projects in a ” BAD ” area can change the was way the community feels about their safety and this can snowball into improvement in businesses and their livelihoods, which leads us to the next point.

• 3 – SMALL BUSINESS SUPPORT:

Many communities fall victim to the ” BIG BUY-OUT “, this is when big corporations like Walmart move into a town and forces the mom and pop shops to close even though you get better quality and service but because Walmart offers everything under one roof at prices that seem lower, but their quality is not always better, so one way to develop a community can be as simple as keeping the community as it is and buy local and from the original mom and pop stores which have been part of your community since the beginning.

So as you can see there are many ways to not only develop but prevent the community to fall under circumstances so that it needs re-developing.
